At 8:30 a.m. on July 20, 2026, the opening ceremony of the Harbin Institute of Technology New-Generation Intelligent Information and Communication Technology International Summer School was held in Room 14 of the Zhengxin Building on Campus One. This International Summer School was hosted by the School of Electronics and Information Engineering (SEIE), with the school's Young Faculty Association as co-organizer. Wang Yi, Secretary of the SEIE Party Committee; faculty members Jia Min, Han Shuai, Zhang Yun, Hou Chengyu, and Wang Nannan; Li Hongzhi, head teacher of the International Summer School; and outstanding young students from universities at home and abroad attended the opening ceremony together. The ceremony was presided over by Li Hongzhi.
First, Mr. Li Hongzhi introduced the attending guests and gave an overview of the International Summer School. The program runs from July 20 to July 31, 2026. Under the guidance and support of the Undergraduate School, this International Summer School admitted 86 students from 15 countries, including 70 international students — a record high. The school has prepared a rich learning program for the students, specially inviting five renowned professors and scholars in the field from home and abroad to deliver classroom instruction and academic lectures, including Professor Tony Q.S. Quek of the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore. In addition, a hands-on independent practice component has been arranged during the summer school: through the experimental project Radio Direction Finding: Design and Practice, students will gain a deep appreciation of the appeal of radio technology.
In his address, Secretary Wang Yi introduced the school's achievements in recent years in discipline development, scientific research, and talent cultivation, and described the distinctive features of the summer school program. He expressed his hope that through this International Summer School, students would learn about the latest developments and future trends in advanced information and communication technology; gain a deep understanding of the profound impact that increasingly intelligent information and communication technologies are having on the global landscape and on human ways of life in the era of intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence; develop an interest in future information and communication technologies and related interdisciplinary research fields; and build a solid foundation for work and research in these areas.
