The New-Generation Intelligent Information and Communication Technology International Summer School of the School of Electronics and Information Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, commenced on July 20, 2026. Under the guidance and support of the Undergraduate School, a total of 86 students from 15 countries were admitted.
This International Summer School focuses on cutting-edge technologies in fields such as 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and edge computing. Through frontier lectures and courses delivered by world-class scholars, it guides undergraduates in understanding the latest developments and future trends in advanced information and communication technology; deepens students' understanding of intelligent information technology, new-generation communication technology, and the Internet of Things; fosters a thorough appreciation of the profound impact that increasingly intelligent information and communication technologies are having on the global landscape (political, economic, cultural, and so on) and on human ways of life in the era of intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence; stimulates students' innovative thinking and enthusiasm for learning; cultivates interest in future information and communication technologies and related interdisciplinary research fields; and lays a solid foundation for work and research in these areas.
The summer school prepared a rich learning program for participants. The School of Electronics and Information Engineering specially invited five renowned professors and scholars in the field from home and abroad to deliver classroom instruction and academic lectures, including Professor Tony Q.S. Quek of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore), Professor Erik Cambria of Nanyang Technological University, and Professor Chen Xiaohua of National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, China. They presented four frontier-topic lectures for the participants — including AI for RAN, Large AI Models, and 6G Wireless Communications: Technical Issues, Challenges, and Applications — as well as a frontier technology course on Machine Learning.
