On the eve of May Day of 2006, IRab launched our 5-year work, LTP (Language Technology Platform). LTP has caused great attention, and our websitehttp://ltp.ir-lab.org has been visited 15813 since the launch day. It has made a strong impression on the confreres and lots of hopes to share the platform have been received .A LTP 2.0 has come to fruition after 4-month efforts. LangJun demonstrated LTP 2.0 on the 3rd students’ Workshop on Computational Linguistics as well as read out essay titled “LTP: Language Technology Platform”(LangJun ,LiuTing ,Zhang Huipeng ,LiSheng ,SWCL 2006,Aug. 2006,pp. 64-68). Today, in compliance with what we announce at that time, we start to share our accomplishment free on 5th, 9, 2006. Hundreds of organizations have shared our data and programs including 6 data resources and 2 kinds of source programs free. From 5th, 9, 2006, all these resources will be packaged as a platform (LTP) to share .Organizations that had agreement with us are eligible upgrade and using of LTP free. We have three restrictive conditions for this sharing: non-business, non-third party and IRlab should be quoted in case of any paper to be published or results to be declared. Our main purpose to share LTP being to improve the development of technology of natural language process, as a result of that, amateurs and companies for profit is not included. Any applications for LTP please fill our protocol and send a electronic vision copy to IRlab’s director Prof. LiuTing (http://ltp.ir-lab.org/HIT_IRLab_Shared_Protocol_new.doc). IR promises that we will continue improve LTP and upgrade free for all the sharing organizations and never charge to academic institutions. The sharing includes 4 aspects: data categories, program categories (DLL), LTML (Language Technology Markup Language), result of language processing. LTML, defined based on XML, the standard interface of all these modules, can show level results of lex, syntax, grammar and semanteme viewed from different angles using XML tool. Users could re-program some modules if they are not satisfied, so as to improve it. IRlab would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work on the project, especially LangJun, Zhang Huipeng .click the following link to get more about our developers, so as to contact them if any questions exist. The main purpose of LTP is more than just a combination of our present result, but to explore the relationship between modules so as to learn more about the thinking process of languages. We believe that the process of understanding is some kind of quantized interaction, but also how it works is still unknown. That is the reason that LTP exists. Hope to bring convenience to our profession and more details about LTP:http://ltp.ir-lab.org/Sharing_Plan.htm
